I find my own private students.<br \/>The French education system is quite closed to outside influence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The main English teaching jobs available are:<br \/><\/strong>Private teaching (not through a school, agency, etc.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the minimum teaching requirements?<\/strong><br \/>University degree or equivalent. TEFL course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What teaching requirements would you recommend?<\/strong><br \/>Good level of French to help you get jobs in the first place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the levels of payment?<\/strong><br \/>20-25 Euros\/hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How many teaching days a week is normal?<\/strong><br \/>5 days per week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How many face-to-face teaching hours a week is normal?<\/strong><br \/>25 hours per week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the normal arrangement for holidays?<\/strong><br \/>If you are in a language school summer holidays are the busiest time, same for private students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to someone considering coming to\u00a0Royan, France to teach English?<\/strong><br \/>After completing this form I wouldn&#8217;t!<br \/>I can survive as I am not the bread winner, I have 2 young children which also occupy my time.<br \/>The French system is difficult to get into, you need good French.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the positive aspects of teaching English in Royan, France?<\/strong><br \/>People are lovely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the negative aspects for teaching English in Royan, France?<\/strong><br \/>The System.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are some of the teaching challenges for English teachers teaching the local people in your area?<\/strong><br \/>Nothing particular.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Living in Royan, France:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Are there any visa or other legal requirements to live in France?<\/strong><br \/>None, but you have to get into the system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the cost of living like in France?<\/strong><br \/>Housing \u2013 reasonable.<br \/>Everything else is more expensive than the UK (except for wine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the usual accommodation arrangements and how can you find accommodation?<br \/><\/strong>Local papers.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other than teaching, what positive aspects are there for living in Royan, France?<\/strong><br \/>I love where I live, 2 mins from the sea, beach life in summer. Lovely friends. Fairly open community to foreigners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other than teaching, what negative aspects are there for living in Royan, France?<\/strong><br \/>The cost. The expensive social charge system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to someone considering coming to\u00a0Royan, France to live?<\/strong><br \/>Think twice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What things do you miss most (other than family and friends) from your home country?<\/strong><br \/>The ease in which you can start your own business, the help and support you get.
