Level of English must be high if want to teach grades 7-12.<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the levels of payment?<\/strong><br><span class=\"s1\">Between 50 -120 New Shekels an hour.<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How many teaching days a week is normal?<\/strong><br><span class=\"s1\">3 days per week <br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How many face-to-face teaching hours a week is normal?<\/strong><br><span class=\"s1\">15-20 hours per week.<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is the normal arrangement for holidays?<br><\/strong>Depends on number of years teaching experience- 2-4 weeks a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to someone considering coming to Jerusalem, Israel to teach English?<\/strong><br>Speak to an established teacher first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the positive aspects of teaching English in Jerusalem, Israel?<\/strong><br>All parents want their kids to learn English. The end of school matriculation exams demand a minimum level of English to pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the negative aspects for teaching English in Jerusalem, Israel?<\/strong><br>Need a work permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are some of the teaching challenges for English teachers teaching the local people in your area?<\/strong><br>Teaching reading and writing. The local language is Hebrew which uses a different alphabet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Living in Jerusalem, Israel:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are there any visa or other legal requirements to live in Israel?<\/strong><br>You need a permanent visa to be allowed to work in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is the cost of living like in Israel?<\/strong><br>Reasonable. Meat is expensive. People eat a lot of chicken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the usual accommodation arrangements and how can you find accommodation?<br><\/strong>Rental, Internet, agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other than teaching, what positive aspects are there for living in Jerusalem, Israel?<br><\/strong>This the Holyland. It is a country full of history and culture. It encourages diversity. People from all over the world come to live, study and tour in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other than teaching, what negative aspects are there for living in Jerusalem, Israel?<br><\/strong>There are external enemies dedicated to destroy and kill as many Jews (the majority of the population) as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to someone considering coming to your Jerusalem, Israel?<br><\/strong>Find someone who lives here and talk in depth with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What things do you miss most (other than family and friends) from your home country?<br><\/strong>West End theaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What do you think you will miss most when (or if) you leave Jerusalem, Israel?<br><\/strong>The history, the spiritual atmosphere, the feeling of national and personal home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What things would you recommend to new teachers in your area to bring with them from their home country?<br><\/strong>Israel is a modern country and it is possible to buy anything in the shops or via the internet. There is nothing special that is lacking.  There is a significant difference in daily temperature in the winter and summer. Bring winter and summer clothes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the country is faced with war and murderous enemies at the borders, is this a frightening experience?<\/strong><br>It is a concern. However, the country is experienced and there are bomb shelters at every corner. Ordinary civilians carry weapons and there are police and armed soldiers in abundance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Any other comments (about teaching or living in Israel)?<br><\/strong>Teaching lower grades is a challenge because of the different alphabet and minimal input from parents at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The higher grades (8-12) want to learn and therefore it is a Is the pleasure to teach them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Me and My Work:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My Name<\/strong>: Chaim Crown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nationality<\/strong>: British and Israeli<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students I&#8217;ve taught in Iran<\/strong>: elementary (6-12 years), junior high school (12-15 years), high school (15-18 years), university, adults, business<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where I teach<\/strong>: <span class=\"s1\">Bnei Yerushalym High school.
